Jogja Hip Hop Foundation |
Finally the dream was realized as well. The process is very complicated, not easy to bring Jogja Hip HopFoundation (JHF) to New York.
First, many technical problems that JHF exclusive performances in New York has to be backed up three times since December 2010, then in January 2011, and finally implemented in May 2011.

Second, how to give proper context to the public this exclusive gig in New York, given the JHF use hip hop lyrics and music that is grounded in the roots of Javanese tradition.
But with the high commitment of the Asia Society, a prestigious institution of art and cultural exchanges between Asia - USA, finally managed to bring the JHF in New York, a group of Indonesia's first hip hop concert exclusively in the hometown of hip hop music.
New York is not an easy city to be conquered. But New York is also a very multicultural city, where people from all over the world were there, so New York can accept and appreciate differences.
Rachel Cooper, as director of Asia Society's performing arts program, confirmed to me after the gig;
"At first I was worried with the American public is skeptical of this program, Java Hip Hop? So what? But after the show was relieved, because JHF very good at eroding the differences with which communication is built on the stage. "
Hearing this, I then look at ourselves. For us, the JHF is a reality, not just products that are created, we always enjoy the music and the stage with a full and honest passion. We always believe that honesty will bring the audience into the soul of the show and erodes all differences, including language.
All the spectators in the auditorium that capture the energy that we provide, to leave the chair and stood up to shake following the beat of hip hop music in the frame of spells Java. Art was always able to bridge differences, build understanding, call the human soul to talk to each other in their own language.
Like traditional agrarian artists, the music, the stage, we always believe. Not to others.

The entire crew JHF very pleased to be attending the block party in the district of the Bronx, where rap music was born there, take pictures with legends, and enjoy the rough attitude typical of the district.
Besides, we also took a clip with a shot in Time Square NYC, singing in the crowd and invite public attention. We really controlled public space. I borrow a twitter comment to describe this situation;
“a Java Hip Hop Crew with Batik shirt, oversized pant, with no lots of jet leg, hit Time Square NYC”.
But by-the most exciting is the proposal by the U.S. Center Stage, a program that offers a proposal for JHFtour 10 cities in 2012.
On his return from New York, we are planning a concert in the middle of the village with a makeshift sound system, from where we came from.
